Fibi Cala Mari

Fibi is a bombastic girl who, having grown up in a seedy merchant island, and then on a pirate ship, does not understand personal boundaries or space too well, nor does she seem to understand the way she dresses is not 'normal' for a girl. She can be temporarily swayed to any side of an argument easily if one were to offer her favorite treat, macaroons. She is fiercely loyal to those she aligns with, usually speaking possessively of her friends as if they were objects. Fibi is known for making excessive fish related puns, especially when she's fighting her anemones, or talking with her fronds.

She is someone that likes to live in the moment and look to the future, becoming melancholic or comically nervous and dismissive toward the past when addressing the subject of payment for anything, or being questioned directly by allies. She also has a habit of wanting to explore anything frought with dangerous puzzles if the promise of a treasure is there. Fibi is also no stranger to hunting for a good bargain.

Lastly, she has a habit of addressing people by their full name, rank, title and any other information for them. (Example: Alright listen here Monkey 'Strawhat' D Luffy, Captain of the Strawhat pirates and head of the Strawhat grand fleet!.)

Born out on the West Blue, Fibi Cala Mari, came to life in to a rather loving and easy living family. Coming from a long line of fishmen, and her siring stemming from a human, she was born as a half and half hybrid, a squid fishman mostly human features.  A caring mother, a doting father, a happy uncle and hyper aunt with two cousins to speak of. She even got to know her eccentric and roller coaster wallet of a grandfather, whom she would regret having a relation to further down in her life.

A merchant family, specializing in the selling of mechanical items and doo-dads that served the purpose of aiding different species in their determinants. Such as offering high powered glasses for a mole mink who was nearly blind. A rather niche market for the West Blue, but, with the advent of her father on the scene, they branched out in to several new avenues of products. The grandfather though, refused to give up on his get rich quick schemes of gambling, which would ultimately lead to the downfall of the family.

While not the inherent cause of the entire destruction of the family, her cousins leaving for the military before the big event happened, and her aunt dying of sickness, Fi was the only girl left in her family that could shoulder the impending burden. You see, dear reader, her grandfather had racked up a debt with gambling. While he said he was going to get rich quick, it was just a ruse to try and get his family to avoid worrying about him that he was always breaking even. In fact, he was losing more often than not.

It became such a problem that his debt, when he died, was signed over (rather illegally mind you) to the next of kin. Her uncle, who tired to fight back, and wound up losing his life in the process.  Leaving just Fibi and her father, she had to do her best in the store while her mother was also available to take the debt as the next of kin, her mother couldn’t meet the caveat presented to her. At the age of ten, Fi, who had been practicing with flying equipment for so long and crashing so very often, earning her trademarked nickname, found out that she was now the proud owner of a quarter billion Beli worth of debt!  She could either pay it off in a lump sum, in installments, or let the interest accrue to a certain point in her life before they would come to collect what she had and marry her off to whoever held the title to the debt at that moment.

Life has a funny way of making a box of chocolates out of lemons, that’s how the saying goes for this at least. Considering how great of a turn would happen when a pirate crew suddenly ransacked her island one day.  In a fight with another crew at the time, the resulting aftermath left Fi an orphan Someone who couldn’t handle the burning business on her own, let alone work off a debt, she was only a twelve year old girl at that point, come on! Well, silver linings have the weirdest way of showing their faces, no?  As it so happened, the crew that wasn’t the aggressor, and, in Fibi’s case, the savior of her life, decided that, instead of leaving her to die, they would take her on the crew as a chore girl. Little did she know that she was picked up by a pirate crew for another reason.

Within a few months she learned the truth. The captain of the ship, the Perish Song, a well known pirate ship across many of the blues and often spoken of as if it were a legend, had decided to pass on the torch. Yes, the captain wasn’t the real captain you see.  It’s rather impossible for humans to life for as long as the name Siren had existed on the seas.

Fibi would learn that, originally, the ship’s captain wanted to retire in a life of luxury, but didn’t want to quit the game. Now, how would someone, way back when, who was around seventy years old, continue to be as spritely as they once were. They had to pass on the title of the ship of course. And so began a long tradition. The cabin boy, or girl, was given lessons in the captain’s personal fighting style.  Utilizing sound and smoke to confuse those trapped in the area while delivering fearsome blows with that signature weapon, the trick cane.  While doing so, the previous captain would start to dress more regularly day by day, eventually taking up the role of the quartermaster of the ship, while the rest of the crew took to taking the new captain by the old captain’s name.  In doing so, they ensured that when they all retired and the new crew was recruited, that they would not dispute the new Siren as their captain.

And, it had been decided that Fibi would be the next one to inherit this legendary title. Her unique physiology would make it difficult to mask that she was in fact, not the 500 year old Siren, but, her heritage would make her all the more believable. Fibi took in the lessons and training, but, she had more goals in mind.  In fact, that’s where the story has nearly reached the point of beginning. She has made an internal vow to herself. That she would not be shackled down by the circumstances of her life one way or another. She would not work off that debt, which was still accruing to this day in the event that she hadn’t died in that island raid. She would not be someone else’s legacy. She would be her own proud half person!  And so, dear reader, that’s where her real story begins...

As a half human, half fishman, Fibi has inherited a few things from her fishman ancestry. She can control the chromatophores in her body to alter her hair with effort given, this is purely cosmetic such as changing the color or style of her hair, she cannot change her facial structure or any other aspect of her physical appearance with these. She can produce and utilize ink as a weapon. She has jelly like bones.

Characters with this trait are gifted with the ability to command respect and admiration from others. Sentient NPCs are easier to sway over to the side of those with this trait. They may gain information, calm down the angry, and sometimes even placate hostile adversaries. Additionally, those normally friendly to strangers find themselves easily enamored with the character. The user also gains one NPC henchman, who behaves as a crew NPC and is controlled by the player of the main character. They are exceedingly loyal to their ‘master’.
Fibi's companion is a half human, half octopus fishman girl by the name of Nene Mori Gala. A childhood friend and one of the only survivors of her island's attack. Growing up on the pirate crew together and serving as Fibi's eventual first mate, the two share a bond of deep rooted friendship.  She stands at roughly five foot six inches tall on average and weighs around one hundred and seven pounds with a vriable height and weight based on her ink levels.
While Nene is somewhat boisterous, and confident in her actions, she tends to have luck with such a bad streak that she has a why me victimized attitude for all of the terrible things she gets in to by sheer accident. Such as turning a corner and stumbling in to an escaped circus stampede.  She tries to look at the silver lining in anything out there, and puts a smile on her face even when she is troubled, not wanting to see her best friend see her worry.
Regardless, she is loyal to Fibi and, in secret, has trained in the same fighting style as her friend, though her weapon of choice are two high powered squirt guns that lead to a tank of her own ink on her back.
