- Raijin Island:
- Possessing a literal electric atmosphere, at least one part of Raijin Island is always caught up in a sustained thunderstorm where lightning constantly strikes from the heavens like rain. Most of the island is covered in a sandy glowing wasteland where high voltages ripple through the ground. What little plant-life exists has an extraordinary resistance to the storms and is capable of repelling even the worst of the storms (though this latent ability fades outside the islands atmosphere).
Despite apocalyptic conditions, a peculiar civilization has built up in the last half a century. The Sky Wizards who discovered the New World island after traveling the skies were infatuated by its intense weather and used their talents to harness it. They built a huge lightning rod in the middle of their city and tapped into a near limitless power source. With this the Wizards attracted people from other islands and established a civilization of their own. Developing new devices to speed up construction it, a city has been created over time to be marveled as one of the greatest in the world, the high tech paradise known as the Tall Tale Country.
The Tall Tale Country holds an uneasy alliance with the World Government which makes it a target for pirate activity. To counter this threat, the Wizard Council who runs the island allowed the building of a Marine Base on the island and also established the TTPF (Tall Tale Protection Force), a small army of highly skilled wizards who could wield the power of electricity via technology.• • •ClimateRaijin island is an Autumn island subject to a rare phenomenon of constant thunderstorms. Black clouds always hang over head and from a distance the island possesses a soft glow to it.• • •Tall Tale CountryA sprawling city that spans from the center of the island to the northern edges. The Tall Tale Country is a neon-lit paradise for technology lovers owing to the near constant energy supply provided by the thunderstorms. The huge lightning rod placed in the middle of the Kingdom draws in the power of the heavens whilst also preventing any part of the city from being struck by stray bolts of lightning.
Every man, woman & child is a Wizard/Witch, their 'magic' in fact marvelous technical advancements and inventions. These devices require huge amounts of power to operate and are practically useless outside the boundaries of the island. The locals maintain a web of boasts and fibs to keep up appearances and separate themselves from the ocean barbarians. Most of what anyone is told on the island is usually a pack of extravagant lies.Hogwash SchoolThe school of Hogwash is located on the northern side of the island. It is a place for all aspiring magicians to study though much disappointment may be had when those 'spells' (read: inventions) taught fail to work beyond the island's reaches. It is also the meeting place of the Wizard Council who rule the Country.Marine Base G-4A large Marine Base constructed on the western side of the Tall Tale Country. G-4 serves as the first outpost in the New World and was re-establish only 4 years ago. The main base is a tall building with G-4 lit up in neon lights on its side. Within its perimeter the base has a wide area for outdoor training facilities, a large armory and its own dockyard for battleships. Many of the soldiers at the base patrol the waters at the known entrance points of the New World to catch newly arrived pirates.• • •Faction InfluenceRaijin Island is considered neutral territory.
The Marines have significant influence and presence on the island due to Marine Base G-4.
Callie had well and truly messed up. Through sheer willpower, a touch of idiocy, a whole handful of illiteracy and just a smidgen of dyslexia she had managed to mistake the word Raijin and Training. She could sort of understand how it had happened, with many of the letters shared between the two words, though the idiocy came in when she began to ponder why a ship would be labelled with 'training'. The willpower presumably came in when she realised it took her a long time to realise she'd messed up.
So, now Callie was stood on the shores of the frankly rather weird and scary island. Up above she could see rather concerning amounts of electricity arcing between the clouds, akin to lightning but off colour for it. In the distance she could see a collection of clouds which seemed even more focused than up above. She hadn't heard a whole lot about this island, having been a little too stubborn to admit her mistakes and ask the people on the transport ship about it all.
With a sigh, the young fighter / tinkerer began to wander. A large group of individuals had wandered off earlier towards the towering behemoth of buildings in the centre of the island, fit with a giant pole which she was guessing somehow working alongside the electricity due to how it arced across it fairly frequently. Did it harvest it? Or... Did it create it? Perhaps she could find the answer with time, but for now she planned on exploring. Wherever she was, she was sure she'd find something tough to fight and train, or perhaps some fun people to talk to.
