Rubeck Island Summary

General Info: Rubeck is a city in North Blue that takes up the majority of the island it is situated on. After hundreds of years as a free state, it was turned over to World Government control about a decade ago.

Appearance: Rubeck is a generally oval-shaped island that is five kilometers wide from east to west and about two and a half kilometers from north to south. Buildings in the style of early Germanic architecture populate the majority of the island, save for one patch of beach about one hundred meters long on the western side of the island. The elevation in Rubeck is mostly steady, with one slight hill in the center of the island that houses the seat of authority of Rubeck. Besides birds, insects, and the odd rodent all wildlife on Rubeck has been gone for hundreds of years.

Climate: Rubeck Island goes through all four seasons as normal, though the summers and winters are far more mild and short than the autumns and springs. The temperature is generally around fourteen or fifteen degrees celcius and a little breezy. On average it rains about once or twice a week.

Notable NPC(s):
Captain Otto Ironrock – The head of operations at the naval base in Rubeck. A native of Rubeck, he was initially the liaison between Rubeck and the World Government in establishing their presence here in the first place and has been in charge of the marines here ever since Rubeck agreed to take them in.

Duchess Zella Wiebe – Widow and wife of the now deceased Duke Erick Wiebe, making her the political head of the city. Still quite new and unused to her leadership role, though thankfully most of the disdain from the joining of Rubeck with the World Government died with her husband, so she has been saved from a majority of the criticisms he received.

Groups:
Marines – The marines are a relatively new presence on the island, though to remedy this there is quite a significant amount of them compared to other islands of the Blues of this size.

Rubeck Militia – Rubeck had their own military forces for hundred of years, and thus the effort to dissolve their numbers and resources into the marines has been a slow and delicate endeavor. Their numbers are about half of that of the marines on the island now, but their soldiers are fierce and still protect the Duchess and patrol parts of the city vigilantly.

Resistance – A small and quiet group of individuals has begun to grow in the small underbelly of Rubeck in opposition to the conjoining of their beloved city with what they perceive as an all-ruling evil. They are a stubborn and hard to find bunch, but fiercely loyal to their cause and willing to take in anyone smart enough to find them and resourceful or tough enough to offer assistance.

Vicinity:
Castle Rubeck – The home of the Duchess of Rubeck and the majority of her forces, located directly in the middle of the island upon the only hill. Those who wish to secure an audience with her are welcome, though it could be a long wait depending on the request.

Market District – The wealthier area of the city that surrounds the central hill in a ring. Populated with plenty of restaurants, hotels, clinics, and stores that host almost anything (legal) that a person could need.

Dirty Crescent – The northwestern quarter of the outer ring of the city is the most poverty stricken and worse for wear, though still in rather good condition compared to the slums of other places. Home to the low income workers, unemployed, orphaned, and criminals of the city – perhaps even the resistance, if you know where to look. Much more affordable room and board can be found here.

Swallow Island Summary

General Info: A mountainous island named by sailors for its bird-like shape. Because it is unpopulated, it has made for a good place of retreat in the past for those looking to get away from civilization.

Appearance: Swallow island is about six kilometers from east to west and a little over two kilometers from north to south at its longest point. An enormous, seemingly unnaturally shaped mountainous structure takes up all but the shores of the island. From the southern and northern sides of the island, the mountainous structure looks oddly similar to that of a bird. Coincidentally, from an aerial view the entire shape of the island is also that of a bird.

Climate: Swallow Island hosts a moderately cool climate with most of the seasons blending together into some sort of perpetually cool spring. The air is a bit humid and it rains relatively frequently on Swallow Island; just about every other day it can be expected to rain. Because of the constant rain and lack of civilization, every area accessible by rain is packed with flora.

Swallow Peak – The top of the bird-shaped mountain is actually a forest populated by some of the most dangerous predators in the Blues, as they have had no one to hunt but themselves. Just reaching the peak is a challenge because of the unnatural shape of the mountain, but the ability to conquer such dangerous beasts could be considered a reward in and of itself. Because there are almost no herbivores on the peak, the vegetation is extremely lush, only kept in check by the large beasts who have beaten paths through the forest by smashing trees and bushes down.

Minion Island Summary

General Info: Minion is a small winter island located in North Blue. Though clearly once by populated by people at one point, its stone houses have been empty for hundreds of years. The island's only permanent residents now are the sturdy winter animals that can withstand the harsh cold.

Appearance: Minion Island is only about two kilometers from east to west and one kilometer from north to south. The island is rather hilly, though mostly void of vegetation and covered with a large layer of snow. From the sea the island simply looks like one large pile of snow.

Climate: Minion Island is very cold and perpetually stuck in winter. It is almost always snowing, with about half a meter or so of snow on the ground at any given time. Without some source of warmth, the temperatures as cold as twenty degrees celcius below zero can prove harsh to survive for the average wanderer.

Abandoned Town – An abandoned town of sturdy stone buildings that have generally survived the test of time. A good place to find refuge and stay away from the cold if one happens to find themselves stuck on this island. For some reason, the few animals that reside on Minion Island seem to stay away from this one part of the island.

Goat Island Summary

General Info: Goat Island is a tiny island that is close to Yotsuba Island in East Blue. Three hundred years ago it was the base for a notorious pirate crew that terrorized East Blue, but has since been rather forgotten. Because of its small size and isolation, this island is now only host to a small forest, insects, and the occasional tired seagull.

Appearance: Goat Island is a small circular island with a diameter of only one kilometer. The shore across the entire island is rocky and could be difficult for small ships who don't take precautions. The whole island is relatively flat and is covered by a small forest.

Climate: Goat Island has a pretty breezy and moderate climate, never really leaving the season of Spring. In temperature it hangs around the early teens in degrees celcius, and rains about once or twice a week.

Base Ruins – The remains of an old pirate's base can be found on the southeastern part of the island, with a somehow still serviceable docks. The wooden buildings have long since fallen apart and been taken over by the forest, though there is still one stone building that could serve as a refuge for any unfortunate traveler that needed it.

Clockwork Island Summary

General Info: Clockwork Island is man made island created by a rather technologically advanced group of individuals and a city state independant from the World Government. This is actually the second Clockwork Island, as the first was destroyed by pirates three hundred years ago. Because of this the second iteration of Clockwork Island is much more fortified.

Appearance: Clockwork Island is a circular island with about a two kilometer diameter that is raised about half a kilometer in the sky by a tall and sturdy rock tower. The actual island is a spiraling mountain that is divided in half by the town and the farmlands that they use as their food source.

Climate: Clockwork Island has a year round summer climate, with a temperature of about twenty-two to twenty-five degrees celcius on an average day.

Notable NPC(s):
Morso – The master inventor and de facto leader of the island. He is rather spry despite being in his early eighties. He spends the majority of his time on his work, though he will semi-frequently step away to make decisions for the sake of the island. He is apparently currently working on a kind of ship that can reliably sustain flight.

Groups:
Inventors – The majority of the citizens of Clockwork Island – as well as those in charge – are avid inventors. They are rather a pacifistic bunch and are focused on building things that could further civilization rather than things which could be used as weapons, the exception being the defenses that protect the island. They are generally friendly and studious folk, and would gladly meet with any foreign inventors to exchange ideas.

Vicinity:
Tower – The rock tower that holds up the island is also home to the two conventional methods of reaching the island, an elevator and a staircase. Those who wish to use the elevator must be cleared by the gatekeeper and is not large enough for a ship to pass through. On the other hand, one could attempt to try the stairs to scale to the top. However, the half kilometer spiraling climb is littered with all sorts of dangerous traps to dissuade people who do not know the tricks to climbing the tower safely.

Clockwork Town – The town proper has every amenity that a traveler would need: restaurants, inns, a hospital, and a marketplace. Because of the pacifistic nature of the majority of people on the island, weapons are not publicly sold on the island. Every building is made out of brick and heavily decorated with gears and clocks.

Sixis Summary

General Info: Sixis is a small deserted island in East Blue. Visiting this island is normally only done by those who are stuck there by the rough currents that surround the island. Getting stuck on this island can be a death sentence, as there are no sources of food or fresh water on the island. No wildlife of any sort can be found on or near Sixis; even the birds seem to ignore the place.

Appearance: Sixis is a tiny island, only about half a kilometer in diameter. There are no hills, raised, or lowered elevation of any kind. The island is mostly sand, save for some rare patches of grass and a few dozen trees.

Climate: Sixis is a very dry and hot island, only ever dipping below twenty-five degrees celcius at night. Rain comes to Sixis very infrequently, and when it does come it is usually in the form of dangerous thunderstorms.

Vicinity:
Rough Waters – The current surrounding the island is particularly treacherous compared to normal waters in the Blues. Travelers should be wary of traveling too close to Sixis or risk their vessel being sunk.

Baterilla Summary

General Info: Baterilla is a mountainous tropical island in South Blue.

Appearance: Baterilla is a rather round island with a radius of a little over three kilometers. Its two rather high mountain peaks (two thousand meters and fifteen hundred meters respectively) can be seen from a ways away. Except for Baterilla City, which is rather visible on the southern side thanks to its white stone architecture, the entire island is covered in lush green tropical vegetation.

Climate: Baterilla is very hot and sunny year round, with an average temperature of twenty four degrees celcius. It is a bit of a humid heat, so light clothes are recommended. On average it rains around once a week.

Notable NPC(s):
Peter Sisco – The mayor of Baterilla City, middle-aged and a bit of a pushover.
Johan Aster – The de facto "mayor" of Swabian Village, a hardy, muscular, and stubborn fisherman in his early sixties.

Groups:
Swabian Villagers – A generation ago various working class families and individuals decided they were tired of the taxes in Baterilla and built their own village on the opposite side of the island. They are not very keen on visitors.

Vicinity:
Baterilla Lighthouse – Having stood for centuries on a tiny island of its own right next to the port of Baterilla City, this stone lighthouse has stood the test of time and still to this day signals ships into its port.

Swabian Village – A small village of about one hundred people on the northern side of the island, away from the city and tucked into the base of the mountain. Save for one inn there are no other businesses as everyone here gathers their own resources.

Forest – Having been relatively unattended for hundreds of years, Baterilla's forest is home to some surprisingly dangerous creatures. It is best to be prepared if one is attempting to traverse these woods.

Spider Miles Summary

General Info: Spider Miles is an industrial island that has always been a bit down on its luck due to the greed and corruption of those that run its lawless city.

Appearance: Spider Miles could easily be mistaken as a four-by-two kilometer pile of trash from a distance. Buildings are practically piled on top of one another and an unending enormous cloud of smoke emits from the factories of the island, making it look like it always has a dark stormcloud looming over it.

Climate: Industrialization has entirely changed the climate of Spider Miles. The air is thick and of extremely poor quality, it is always at least twenty five degrees celcius during the day when all of the factories are running, though it plummets to around four or five degrees during the night. When it does rain, it is very acidic rain that is not good to drink in the slightest and can even cause irritation in the eyes.

Notable NPC(s):
Samson Smokestack – Filthy rich owner of a majority of the factories on the island. Early fifties, is not afraid to "take care of" anyone that he perceives as an inconvenience.
Calloway – Upstart crime lord in his early thirties hoping to unite the criminals of the city.

Groups:
Smokestack's Cronies – A private army of a few hundred men, Smokestack's Cronies police all of his property on the island. Since this is a lot of the island, they are more or less the "law" of the island, though their only concern is beating half to death anyone – or outright killing – anyone that causes trouble.

Calloway's Crew – A rough and tough criminal bunch, but somehow more reasonable and docile than the "police force". They take anyone who knows a thing or two about stealing, dealing, or any other illegal activity.

Vicinity:
Smokestack Manor – The only proper looking building on the whole island. Heavily guarded and surrounded by a stone wall, it is a dangerous place to attempt to go without being invited.

Undercity – The sewers of the city hosts a smaller city of its own, run entirely by even more sordid folk than the ones that run the city above. All sorts of illegal items can be obtained here.

Portside – The only relatively safe place to be if you're a visitor not looking for any trouble. Goods here are a bit pricier than they would be within the city, but it's almost a guarantee that you'll be safe here.
