Moonman The Explorer Empty Moonman The Explorer

    Post by K1ngisback Sun Oct 28, 2018 7:08 am

    Account Name: K1ngisback

    Basic Info

Name: Señor Jamal Hernando The Seis
    Nickname: Moonman
    Age: 23
    Gender: Male
    Race: Human
    Affiliation: Other
    Threat: 0
    Achievements: -
    Profession:
    Carpenter (Primary)
    Martial Artist (Secondary)
    Position: Roaming Genius
    Crew: -

    Appearance

    Height: 7' 3"
    Weight: 323 Lbs.
Hair: Orangish dark brown, frizzy, spherical
    Eyes: Squinty, Grey
    Clothing/Accessories:
Moonman wears a full, non-functional astronaut suit. It is puffy and wide, the texture is smooth, the color is white, and there is a big bulky helmet. Sure, that sounds like an astronaut suit, so what could be wrong? None of it functions. While the suit looks the part, and seems to have all the bells and whistles, it just doesn't work. For instance, the suit isn't air tight. That is probably the most important part of a space suit; you want to keep the air in! Without that function, it's nothing more than a bulky, white, heavy sack of... well, space suit material. The square box of 'components' on his chest is just for show. There are fake buttons and switches on it, but it actually opens up to reveal a small cavity for storing things like candy, and other nick-nacks. There is no slot on the back to hold a tank, and no ports on the body and helmet for tubes to go through. The shoes/boots are cushiony, but not very comfortable. The helmet is probably the most functional piece of the outfit, and that's not saying much. The reason for this is that the visor slides up and down, enabling him to hide his face. That is literally all it is capable of. If it were to be submerged, water would promptly flood in through the cracks and gaps. He generally wears a pair of boxers and a white undershirt underneath the space suit. Super classy.

    General Appearance:
So you must be wondering, what does this big, puffy, space suit wearing goon look like underneath all the mass? Okay, fine, you weren't wondering. But I'm going to type it out anyways. Moonman is a marvel of human genetics... and by that I mean he's kinda big. So really, not a marvel, just a little lucky. Heck, lucky isn't even the word for it. It's not always a good thing to be big, so to rephrase it once more, I'll say he's a big guy. Yeah, that sounds swell. He is a big guy. His height, his bulk, both fairly large. Sure, a giant can easily out scale him, but as far as average humans go, he's a bit large. Moonman's face is rather small, centered on the front of his head, and seemingly all scrunched up. His eyes are squinty slits, and his mouth is constantly puckered. His eyes are a misty gray color. He used to get made fun of for this odd visage, but then he had a wonderful idea. He grew out his hair into a massive puff ball of curls that tightly coil in front of his face, leaving a small gap for him to see through. Due to always wearing the space suit head-piece, the hair is now stuck in the form of a sphere which it was conformed to while in the suit. His hair is a dark brown color, with a slight orangish tinge. The rest of his body is rather plain. Slightly toned due to his combat experience, but not overly muscular.

    Background

    Personality:
It is very rare to find someone functional, yet completely and utterly lost in their delusions. This will continue to be rare as Moonman doesn't fit this description. Only half of that is correct. He is so far gone, that it's a marvel that he isn't dead yet. Why? Because he thinks that not only is he from the moon, but that he isn't human, and that he has strange alien powers. Just to make it absolutely clear, he does not have alien powers. One such belief is that gravity does not apply to him, enabling him to bounce around as he pleases, slowly drifting about and having a good time. How he manages to maintain such delusions when he is constantly falling and bruising himself is a wonder. He gets more than a few stares when he jumps from roof tops to 'prove' that he is special.

Aside from this belief that he is a mooninite, he is also rather smart. How intelligence can go hand and hand with his disposition is baffling, but that's the way it is. Moonman has always been an avid reader, and has an excellent memory. It has allowed him to study up, almost religiously, on the moon, and to memorize every fact that he can dig up on it. From moon cycles, to myths, he digs it all up to fuel his obsession. On the negative side of this, sometimes he imagines 'facts' about the moon, and they are so ingrained in his mind that he preaches them as truth.

So those are two major points about him, but what about his casual everyday feelings? In general, Moonman is a kind person. He is helpful, if not a little naive, and likes to talk to people. He hardly ever gets angry, so to speak, but he can become quite driven at times. To clarify, he isn't mad at someone, or something, but he can be very intense and passionate about things. This sometimes comes off as mad, but there is no negativity behind his sentiment. He is also rather easy going, which is a big factor of his personality flaws. If he took more notice of what happened around him, and the injuries and whatnot he sustained, then he probably would have come to his senses by now. This is not the case, so he simply flows with it.

One negative that isn't extreme is that he has trouble understanding other people sometimes. While he likes talking with others, and being a good guy in general, he can't always read people's intentions. Whether he doesn't notice he's being annoying, or he doesn't see that someone is clearly scamming him, he often has slip ups. This probably has a lot to do with he peculiar nature. People choose not to interact with him, so despite his desire to talk, he lacks experience and thus can't maneuver social situations very well. A lot of people get the impression that he is self absorbed because of this. It's unfortunate, but he won't notice that they think this, so he can't even prove how sympathetic he really is.

Almost needless to say, Moonman is very fond of the moon and every thing it typically represents. He also has a very deeply ingrained obsession with the moon that can't be explained by logic, and seemingly stems from nowhere. Another like of Moonman is exercise. While he is not overly fit, he does enjoy being able to freely move his body. This passion is further fueled by the fact that he frequently ends up hurt, and cooped up all day when he could be frolicking about through the air. As far as food goes, Moonman isn't particular as long as the food is dehydrated, or dried, or preserved in some way. He won't eat fresh food. For music, he likes rhythmic
beats and electric tones, but not for any artistic reason. He just likes how repetitive and technical they sound.

If there is anything that Moonman hates to the utmost degree, it's being told that he isn't from the moon. He's willing to bend on the fact that he isn't a native mooninite, granted, he currently thinks he is one, but he absolutely thinks he grew up on the moon. Whether adopted, or stranded there, he is convinced he was there and telling him otherwise would disturb him. While that is his primary dislike, there are other things that tend to bother him. He is not a fan of fresh foods, as stated, but raw foods absolutely terrify him. They are inefficient for storage, and who knows what kinds of awful bacteria are on them? Nope, just nope. No sushi, no raw fruit, none of it. As far as musical distaste goes, he isn't a fan of any music really, but what he hates the most is abstract music with strange lyrics, and non-repetitive sections. They just tend to bother him.

I suppose by now his motivation is clear as day. The moon. Getting back to the moon is Moonman's number one goal. While it's not his only goal, his other goals tend to rotate around it. He simply wants to return home to reaffirm his memories and prove that he's been right all along. He may find this to be a disappointing ending, but he won't have to worry about that for a looooong time. Another motivation of his is to keep the moon exclusive. One of his moon delusions lead him to believe that the one's who raised him were rather elite, and that they didn't want any plebeians on the moon. Moonman intends to maintain this status. He will do his utmost to prevent others from reaching the moon. Moonman is rather fond of exploring as well. Without a sense of adventure, he probably would have never been so misguided to begin with. He wants to explore, and that has lead him to want to explore space. The moon is only a stepping stone, and he intends to travel further through the cosmos.

The single greatest fear that Moonman has, and one that he's been suppressing for his entire life, is the possibility that he's just crazy. This thought almost never comes to his mind, but when he is particularly vulnerable it creeps up on him. It's a truly haunting and depressing feeling to have this dark thought creeping in the back of your mind ready to strike. Oddly, Moonman has a fear of orbs. Considering the moon is an orb, it's a mystery how this notion came about. Round stones, round fruit, things like that tend to freak him out for some reason. Luckily, planets are too large for him to perceive as an orb, so the moon will be okay. Despite his consistently injured state, Moonman is not a fan of doctors or hospitals. Not because of what they are designed for, but because of the chance they carry bacteria. He is very afraid of getting sick and dying to something he can't even really combat. It's a bit odd, but hey, to each their own.

Hometown: Moon, Moon (Mirrorball Island, East Blue)
    History:
Legends tell of a mysterious man who came down from the moon. That man... was Moonman. His story begins very far away on a distant planet. This planet was approaching its collapse, and so they fled, bringing with them a cluster of eggs that survived so their species wouldn't die out. This race landed on a mostly barren small planetoid, our moon. Most of the eggs were broken from the impact of the landing, but one survived. Initially, the few survivors of this race were devastated due to the loss, and the nearly guaranteed doom of their race. After awhile, though, they came to their senses and decided to give their lone surviving child a happy life. They made many machines and performed many operations on the unhatched egg, and eventually succeeded in making the child look like the most intelligent local species, the humans. They even managed to make the child compatible with the humans so that it would be able to procreate. It was truly a marvel of science. With the child prepped, they had to wait for it to hatch.

Years passed as the large egg continued to undulate and glow. These were good signs as it meant the child would hatch soon. Finally, the everyone's relief, the egg hatched without trouble, and Señor Jamal Hernando The Seis was born. It was a joyous occasion and everyone frolicked. The elder lifted the child high into the air, while smiling at it. After naming the child, he tossed it high into the air where another adult caught it. This continued as the child was passed from adult to adult, and finally back to the elder. It was a ceremony that all children underwent in space because it adapted their sense of balance in zero gravity, and there was no immediate risk of hurting them. Once the festivities calmed down, the child was laid to rest in a stasis pod, and he rested.

Life was happy on the moon. They taught the child about the moon, their home for the past years. They taught him general knowledge, and what they had gathered about the humans. They even taught him how to defend himself, and that their race was superior to all, and that he shouldn't let others contaminate their home on the moon. One thing they didn't tell him was about their home, and how he would likely be their last pure blood. This was to make sure Moonman didn't feel bad about his life. The last thing they wanted was for their child to feel like an outcast. They even lied about his appearance in order to avoid hurting his feelings. Despite their haughtiness, they were truly good people. It was a blissful time in Moonman's life, and it greatly effected how he treated others. It is from them that he gained his kindness and willingness to help. Sadly, this life wouldn't continue forever.

Eventually, the elder grew sickly and older, and the adults had to spend time with him instead of Moonman. Taking care of the elders was a very taxing duty, and one their race valued. Due to this lack of attention, Moonman caused a problem that he would never forgive himself for. He damaged a device that his people were using to power their many machines, including the ones they used to grow food, and keep them healthy. This immediately caused chaos, and even the elder's death. Food dwindled quick, and soon, they were down to their last bit of power. All the while, they never once blamed Moonman despite knowing it was his fault. This caused him to hurt inside, and feel extremely guilty, but he wouldn't have the chance to apologize. After one of them came up behind him, he was knocked out. When he woke up, he was on planet earth in a hospital bed, next to an old human lady who looked very worried.

He soon found out that this lady called herself his mother. He thought this was strange so he immediately explained that she was not his mother, and that he was from the moon. He also explained that she should have noticed this immediately when she saw him floating above the bed due to being immune to gravity, an ability the humans didn't have. This shocked her, but she never said anything. Moonman assumed she was just embarrassed to have made such a mistake. He didn't blame her though. With an innocent grin, he turned away from her and said goodbye. He then jumped out the window, immune to gravity, and floated away to live his own life. Every once in awhile, he would find himself in various hospital rooms, but he usually just floated away from these, perfectly okay due to his mooninite healing capabilities. It is in this way that Moonman lived his life until now...

Or so Moonman vehemently believed. Almost none of it actually happened though. Moonman was not from the moon. He was not the last survivor of an ancient alien race. He did not have mystical powers that made him immune to gravity and let him heal faster. These were all delusions. I repeat. None of this actually happened to him. The reason this delusional story is worth mentioning is because despite it not being real, he truly believes it was. In truly believing it, these 'memories' have determined his personality and how he acts. In actuality, his life has been way less special, and was relatively tame for a time.

Moonman was actually born to a simple peasant human family. Very straightforward, very normal. He was a large child, and he was raised by an even large stout man, and his short and plump wife. They loved their son, who was not named Señor Jamal Hernando The Seis. This named was imagined by Moonman, but he sticks to it so firmly that his original name is of no consequence. His father was a burly and tough manly man who raised Moonman in a semi-strict but loving fashion. His mother was a doting mother, and had trouble disciplining him in any way. She simply hated the feeling of being 'mean' or so Moonman called her. His father had no such qualms and usually took care of these problem situations. Despite this, Moonman was happy with them, and he was an energetic boy, destined for a good, simple life.

As with many stories, his life was derailed at some point. His father passed at a pretty young age, leaving Moonman with his mother. Things were fine at first, but Moonman started to get in trouble, and his mother being a softy let him do it. Soon, he was incorrigible and put not only himself, but even other children into danger. To clarify, he didn't get in trouble in a lawful sense; he was a bit of a dare devil who put himself in dangerous situations repeatedly, hence 'trouble'. At the culmination of his antics, him and other boys were playing with heavy spheres. These spheres were cannon balls that they had found on the side of a street near the docks. In an act of fortitude, Moonman lifted it above his head, acting cocky throughout the whole process. Looking up at the ball, he lost his grip, and the image of the gleaming metal sphere was burned into his retina as it collided with his forehead and knocked him out.

When he awoke, he was a completely different person from who he was. He was in a hospital bed, and his worried mother was crying on his lap. When he saw this, and found out she was his 'mother', he promptly said she was wrong and leaped from a window. Doctors were baffled as was his mother, and they concluded that he had a strange form of amnesia where he seemed to have replaced the lost memories subconsciously with completely fabricated ones. This had lead him to adopt this rather strange and unmanageable persona. Unfortunately for them, before they could subdue Moonman and institutionalize him, he was off, adventuring and jumping from precarious ledges, causing all kinds of havoc. And in this fashion, we arrive at present.

    Inventory and Abilities

    Combat:
While technically a self created 'martial art', it is a mostly movement centric style. Moonman has become 'adept' at making long, or high leaps, and landing with no grace. In combat, he can use this as essentially a tackle, by falling on people. With the grace of a gazel he leaps, and with the agility of a walrus, he flops to a halt. Quite powerful, mind you. He's a big guy with a hard as hell body, it must hurt to be squashed beneath that. As far as devil fruit abilities go, he's not very adept yet. He recently acquired it, and hasn't advanced past just squirting ink willy nilly.
