Acupuncturist: An acupuncturist is different from a doctor, because instead of gaining large medical knowledge, acupuncturist gain specific knowledge on the muscular system, nervous system, and how it relates to the spiritual chakra system that allows one to use Mantras, Haki, and Rokushiki along with its power system Doriki. Acupuncturist learns more about the spiritual and physical properties of the body. They also they learn about more than just the human anatomy, but Mink and natural animal anatomy as well to discover other living creatures nervous systems. Lastly, they use needles to perform various techniques and procedures. Primary occupation Acupuncturist is able to use the needles as weapons and learn a greater understanding of how Haki or Haki like moves are achieved.

    Profession Traits:

    Primary occupations only:

Cancel Aura (trait points: 4): With the extensive knowledge of how aura works and relates to the body the acupuncturist has studied how to cancel out someone’s aura making it extremely difficult for the target to use their haki or haki like abilities. This does not technically make it “Impossible” for one to use their Haki, it however places a limit on how effective their Haki will be for the next four rounds (posts). By placing three needles in a line from the center of one’s head, their throat, and their solar plexus it reduces their ability to harness the Qi needed to perform Haki techniques, or Mantras/Rokushiki. This trait allows the Acupuncturist to develop techniques which involve the act of cancelling ones aura. Cancel Aura can only be used for one specific Haki technique and the effect of Cancel Aura cost -32. However, the trait itself also increases the power the Acupuncturist has with needles by +4 in addition to unlocking the special effect.

Needle Proficiency (trait points: 2): Activating this trait allows the Acupuncturist to throw needles and use them like weapons. Their range proficiency is increased and they gain these modifiers for short, mid, long, and very long range:

”Range Chart for Acupuncturists trained in Needle Proficiency”:

Advanced Needle training (trait points: 1 + needle proficiency): This trait allows the Acupuncturist to gain half off of the piercing effect. Normally -8, now it’s -4, because needles naturally pierce and a proficiency in needle work would give the practitioner a large amount of experience in how to pierce someone/something correctly. This also gives the user +2 power to all needle techniques.

Damaging pinpoints (Trait points: 1+ Needle Proficiency): This trait is centered on causing maximum damage to targets by specific hitting vital nerves with needles. The acupuncturist gains an effect called Nervous System Blackout which is -20. As a secondary condition, if a target is hit with a move that has Nervous System Blackout four times, in a specific boy part, four times, then they lose the ability to move that body part for three rounds. This only works on limbs however, arms, and legs. This doesn’t work on one’s head (because that would be akin to auto killing) and doesn’t work for ones torso (again, akin to auto killing). A person hit with Nervous System Blackout has the status effect Nervous System Resistance, which makes it harder and harder to move that specific body part, for four rounds. This is to prevent someone from using Nervous System Blackout on multiple limbs.

Enabling Flow (trait points: 1): Understanding how the body can control aura the Acupuncturist has learned how to supportively enhance one’s ability to use Busoshoku (Armament) Haki. While the buffs are increased for Busoshoku the negative side-effect is a decline in other areas. Say, +2 power in Busoshoku is a -2 power in Kenbunshoku. These buffs last for a limited time as well because of the strain it puts on the target. It’s also important to mention that the target has to know Busoshoku first, before they are buffed by it. (Max buff time, 3 posts)
    ”Busoshoku Enhancement table”:

Advanced Flow (trait points: 1 + Enabling Flow): The Acupuncturist has learned how to increase the mind’s ability to use Kenbunshoku. These buffs last for a limited time as well because of the strain it puts on the target. It’s also important to mention the target has to know Kenbunshoku first, before they are buffed by it. (Max buff time, 3 posts)

    ”Kenbunshoku Enhancement table”:

    Normal Traits:

Body, Mind, and Health (trait points: 1): Acupuncturists trained in the body, mind, and health use homeopathy, natural medicines, to insure their patients’ health along with their ability to free use their spiritual energy if they are trained in using it. This will open their chakra gates giving them more energy in total. This is a stamina buffing supportive trait with the ability to heal mild sickness.
    ”Normal Cures”:

Advanced Homeopathy (trait points: 2 + Body, Mind, and Health): This acupuncturist has discovered several helpful herbs that grow naturally on various islands which enhance and heal. They can overcome severe sickness to gaining a strength or speed buff due to the absorption of nutrients and vitamins that increase overall bodily function.
    ”Advanced Cures”:

Biofeedback Disruption (trait points: 3): Acupuncturists trained in this specific field have learned how to disrupt the current of nervous system response. This trait allows the user to create techniques which confuse the victim’s ability to move their body. An example of this is pinning a needle in someone’s shoulder rewiring the nervous system to think that the left shoulder is the left knee. This inflicts a special effect called Bioconfusion, and costs -16.

Natural pain killer (trait points: 1): Understanding the nervous system isn’t a enough, this acupuncturist has studied some neurology as well and discovered a way for the body to give itself a painkiller naturally, dopamine. This acupuncturist and learned how to trigger a release of dopamine in the body reducing a significant amount of pain.
    ”Natural pain killer”:

Advanced pain killer (trait: 3 + Pain killer): With further knowledge of the brain this Acupuncturist has learned how to trigger a larger release of dopamine, making the target gain blurry vision, dizziness, and light-headedness. The heavier/stronger the pain killer the more server the side-effects with the side-effects lasting for five rounds.

Generally, I'm not too ingrained with Doctor-like stuff, but genuinely the write up is good and has potential. Biggest issues or rather the ones that stand out the most is that we don't allow Professions that enable Haki or generally deal with Haki. So already the kind of 'chi blockers' which would limit Haki ranks are out of the window, unfortunately.  A professional trait that in essence gives discounted Ranges would also not be viable, given that its solely a Primary Profession bonus (the sole exception being DFs) and therefore worth more than a single trait point - unfortunately.

Onto the good stuff, I do like the different applications of cures and medicines, it seems a little too narrowed down given that we already have generalized 'healing techniques' which focus around cuts, bruises and other more surface-level ailments (see this under our legacy effects) going into specifics isn't great, but I can see potential in a line of techniques or effects that combat colds, coughs and other more bacterial/viral sicknesses rather than purely physical ones.
